York Developmental Reading Series announces January Schedule

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Dir; Andrew Levine, Exec Dir), and its Developmental Reading Series, will present the premiere of two new musicals:  LOVE IN OUR LANGUAGE, with Book & Lyrics by Judy Goetz Sanger and Music by Howard Marren, and SWING WINGS, with Book & Lyrics by William Schermerhorn and Music by Milton Delugg and Mary Ehlinger at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s (East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Ave).  The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00.  The Developmental Reading Series presents some 40 readings and workshops of new musicals by emerging and established authors throughout the year. a vital part of the writing process. The January 2014 Developmental Reading Series schedule begins with "Love in Our Language" (Thurs Jan 23 at 3:00 PM & 8:00 PM) Adapted from "Love in Our Language," by Judy Goetz Sanger. The musical features a Book and Lyrics by Ms Sanger & Music by Howard Marren and is directed by Terry Berliner with Music Direction by Lawrence Yurman.  The  cast features Leah Horowitz, Joseph Kolinski, Justin Lawrence, Terry Layman, Gavin Lodge, Terry Palasz, Jonathan Todd Ross Deborah Tranelli. A personal view of two love stories, and of the subtleties of language between lovers in two cities; New York and London. Do they speak the same language? What do any of us understand when we fall in love?  The world in which these lovers exist is like the climate in Harriet Friedlander's greenhouse -- needing to be "just so", for love to thrive. The luck of sharing a lifetime, with one person who understands you completely, is the greatest gift of all. Next up will be "Swing Wings" (Fri Jan 24 at 3:00 PM) with a Book and Lyrics by William Schermerhorn & Music by Milton Delugg and Mary Ehlinger with Direction by Randy Redd and Music Direction by Adam Podd. The cast includes Will Burton, Liam Forde, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Johnny Kinnaird, Ian Lowe, Taylor Rathus Haley Swindal. The musical is based on the World War II experiences of songwriters Frank Loesser, Milton Delugg and the fresh-faced Army Air Corps musicians who created the era’s signature radio broadcasts.  In a time of patriotic sacrifice, they forged a bond that could not be broken.
