Labyrinth presents 16th Annual Barn Series

Labyrinth Theater Company (Mimi O’Donnell, Artistic Dir; Danny Feldman, Managing Dir) has announced that this season, there will be not one, but two chances for audiences to discover exciting new work at their earliest stages in the annual Barn Series readings. There will be a Fall Barn Series in November and Spring Barn Series in 2015 held at the Bank Street (155 Bank Street). Free, and open to the public, the Barn Series provides Labyrinth playwrights a supportive atmosphere in which artists and audiences can enter into a creative conversation about the future of a play in development. The lineup of free play readings for the 16th Annual Barn Series is EMPANADA LOCA (Tues Nov 4 8:00 PM) Written and Directed by Aaron Mark,  starring Daphne Rubin-Vega. Inspired by true events and the legend of Sweeney Todd, "Empanada Loca" is a Grand Guignolesque thriller about the indomitable Dolores. Now living deep under Manhattan in an abandoned subway tunnel, Dolores recounts her early years selling drugs, her return to Washington Heights after thirteen years in prison, and her reunion with a cannibalistic old friend who lets her give massages under his empanada shop. Next up will be PRISONER (Thurs Nov 6  at 8:00 PM) Written and Directed by Lyle Kessler starring Felix Solis & Florencia Lozano. Things are not what they seem in this a modern day fable. A man and a woman meet in unusual circumstances in this dark comedy about life on the edge. Last up will be NORA GETS A BOYFRIEND (Sun Nov 9 8:00 PM) Written by Megan Mostyn-Brown, Directed by Mia Rovegno starring: Jeff Biehl, Dylan Dawson, Greg Keller, Jamie Klassel, Annie McNamara, David Ross & Leigh Wade It’s impossible to find a perfect boyfriend in NYC. But what if you could build one? When the unlucky-in-love Nora meets a brilliant but lonely scientist working on artificial humanoids, she finally has the chance to construct the man of her dreams.
