Producers Southpaw Entertainment (Richard Lewis, CEO) and CJ E&M (Byeong-seok Kim, Senior Vice President) have announced that AUGUST RUSH, a new musical based on the 2007 motion picture, which starred Robin Williams and Freddie Highmore, will have a developmental lab presentation in December 2014. The Broadway-bound musical, based on the film with story by Paul Castro and Nick Castle, will feature a Book and Lyrics by Glen Berger and Music and Lyrics by Mark Mancina who composed the score for the film. The presentation will be directed John Doyle with choreography by Sam Pinkelton, musical direction by Kimberly Grigsby, and orchestrations and musical arrangements by Dave Metzger. The  will include Ethan Khusidman as August Rush, Joe Carroll as Louis, Sydney Shepherd as Lyla, Terrence Mann  as Wizard, Mark Jacoby as Thomas, DeAndre Sevon  as Arthur X, Will Connolly as Marshall, Grace Capeless as Hope, Isabel Keating as Mrs. Gordon, Lisa Helmi Johanson as Lizzie, Alexander Gemignani as Richard Jeffries, and an ensemble that will feature Brandon Ellie, Lulu Fall, Nkrumah Gatling, Nathan Koci, Shaina Taub, and Elisa Winter. "August Rush" tells the hypnotic tale of a musically gifted orphan who runs away from his New York City foster home in search of his birth parents.  On his journey, he's taken under the wing of a street Maestro named Wizard, who discovers his musical genius, names him “August Rush,” and devises a plan to profit from his talent.  All the while, unbeknownst to August, his parents are searching for him too.
