New York Civil Liberties Union Announces Lineup for Benefit

The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, has announced a star-studded lineup of award-winning performers for its annual benefit concert. “Broadway Stands Up for Freedom” on Mon July 20, at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place). The lineup includes Michael Cerveris (with Loose Cattle), Ruthie Ann Miles, Judy Kuhn, Beth Malone, Brandon Uranowitz, and Steven Boyer, as well as Celia Keenan-Bolger, Montego Glover, Seth Rudetsky, Kate Ferber, Grace McLean, Shaina Taub & Liana Stampur with the Clinton Curtis Band. Susan Blackwell returns as host, and  Jeanine Tesori will be the keynote speaker for the evening. With Peter Flynn as director and Paul Staroba as musical director, the one-night-only benefit will also feature an original video by Andrew and Celia Keenan-Bolger. In addition, the evening will showcase the teenage winners of the NYCLU’s Freedom of Expression contest, which invites New York City public schools students to speak their minds on important civil liberties issues in their lives.
