Elia Kazan directed a cast which included Ed Begley (Joe), Arthur Kennedy (Chris), Karl Malden (George) & Beth Merrill (Kate). The 1948 Universal film, directed by Irving Reis, featured Edward G Robinson (Joe), Burt Lancaster (Chris) & Mady Christians (Kate)
