A new musical based on the 1992 Billy Crystal film of the same name is in development. The story focuses on the rise and fall of stand-up comedian Buddy Young Jr.
For The Record:
The 1992 film was directed by and starred Billy Crystal, and was written by Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel. A workshop took place in May 2019, and it had a developmental production at Barrington Stage Company in October 2021.
