"One Mo' Time" originally opened Off-Broadway under the auspices of Art and Burt D'Lugoff and Jerry Wexler at The Village Gate on October 22nd, 1979 where it ran until 1983 under the direction of Vernel Bagneris and featured a cast which included Mr Bagneris as Papa Du, Thais Clark as Ma Reed, Sylvia "Kuumba" Williams as Bertha, Topsy Chapman as Thelma and John Stell as Theatre Owner.
