A new musical based on the novella by Elizabeth Spencer. Set in the summer of 1953, the story of a mother and daughter traveling through Italy, the daughter’s romance with a handsome, high-spirited Florentine, and the mother’s determined efforts to keep the two apart.

The World Premiere of “The Light in the Piazza” was produced by the Intiman Theatre in Seattle, WA in assoc w/the Goodman in Chicago IL on June 14, 2003, at the Intiman. Craig Lucas directed and Pat Graney choreographed a cast which included Victoria Clark, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Glenn Seven Allen, Patti Cohenour, Mark Harelik, Kelli O’Hara, Steven Pasquale & Robert Shampain.
