Peter and Rita follow their whirlwind courtship with a storybook wedding. After a mysterious elderly man appears and kisses the bride at the wedding, the two lovers are sent on a magical journey that they will never forget. “Prelude to a Kiss” received its World Premiere at the Circle Repertory Theatre in Feb 1990 and starred Mary-Louise Parker & Alec Baldwin.  The production transferred to Broadway on May 1, 1990, starring Mary-Louise Parker & Timothy Hutton.  In 1992, Craig Lucas adapted his play for the feature film starring Meg Ryan & Alec Baldwin.
